This small family (Leuctridae) has three genera, containing 10 species, some of which are quite rare in Ohio and several of which are either unidentified or not distinguishable as nymphs. The distinctive characteristic of the family are the wingpads, which are widely separated and sausage-like. The hind wingpads are more than twice as long as wide (unlike other families that are similar in size: Snowflies [at least for the representitives found in Ohio]).
